1st Grade Program

Thursday night was Micah's Dance Night at school. The 1st graders danced for moms and dads. Micah was wonderful! Of course he loves to dance just like mommy, he definitely has Latin blood in his "Micah Dance." I was trying not to cry, but I couldn't help it. To see Micah grow and do all the different things he does, only makes me more happy and proud to be a mother! Rachel enjoyed the night too! She cannot wait to be in 1st grade to do the dance too. She really loves to dance. Her lovely teacher and my friend, Yomaida was telling me a little story about a "Dancing Contest", in class yesterday. All the kids in the class were dancing! The story is: Mrs. England's class was "peeling the banana.'"When I say, "peel," I mean really shaking and moving. The class voted and tallied up scores on the best dancers.(Mrs. England's way of getting in some kindergarten math objectives). Anyway, apparently Mrs. England has been calling my daugther Rachel, Raquel like...Raquel Welch. She doesn't include the "Welch." Rachel LOVES that Mrs. England calls her that name. Even if she's being redirected and is called by her real name, she reminds Mrs. England to repeat the direction using the name Raquel and not Rachel. It's really funny. So yesterday, when the kids were voting on the best "banana peeler" RAQUEL was chosen to get in the middle of the circle and PEEL that BANANA! The kids were even calling Rachel Raquel. Yomaida told me the story in a message. From what she says, my daughter may be a mini J Lo in the making! Ha-Ha!
